Great Lakes Theater Outreach – Huck Finn!

Great Lakes Theater is excited to announce the 2018 free outreach touring production, HUCK FINN!
Based on the novel The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain and adapted by Eric Schmiedl.
SYNOPSIS: Two runaways – a boy and a slave – team-up for adventure on the mighty Mississippi! Huckleberry Finn finds freedom on the run, out-thinking colorful con-men, narrowly escaping a family feud, and even passing as a girl as he and Jim make their way down the “big river.” On the journey, they learn lessons of integrity, dignity, and friendship. At turns dramatic then hilarious, two performers and one storytelling troubadour play a dozen characters in this timeless tale, uniquely adapted from Mark Twain’s classic American novel. Recommended for Students in Grades 3 through 8 (and up). Join us for this free presentation on Saturday, February 10 at 2pm.

Meet Florence Kling Harding

Come celebrate President’s Day with us on Sunday, February 18 at 2:00 p.m. by meeting Florence Kling Harding, U.S. First Lady 1921-1923. Mrs. Harding, an Ohio Native, became the First Lady of the United States upon the election of her husband, Warren G. Harding.
Mrs. Harding was an outspoken advocate of women’s rights, the rights of veterans, animals and immigrants. She was a strong woman, made stronger by the difficulties and tragedies in her life.
This First Lady will be portrayed by Craig Schermer, a graduate of John Carroll University with a major in Russian Imperial History. He has studied the First Ladies most of his life and spent nearly ten years as the historian for the National First Ladies Library in Canton, Ohio.
Mr. Schermer’s charming and informative portrayal of Mrs. Harding will be followed by a reception with light refreshments.
