Our 2026-2027 Season

Clague Playhouse proudly announces our 2026–2027 season! As we celebrate our 99th season and our 59th season “in the barn,” we invite you to experience a lineup of outstanding productions selected by our dedicated Play Selection Committee. This season features a wonderful mix of contemporary and classic works that are sure to entertain, inspire, and delight.

Angel Street (Gaslight)

Directed by Fred Sternfeld.  Angel Street (Gaslight) written by Patrick Hamilton is presented with special arrangement by Concord Theatricals on behalf of Samuel French, Inc.

Mystery looms in Patrick Hamilton’s classic Victorian thriller, Angel Street. Mysterious things have been happening in the Manningham household: items go missing, the dog is injured, and Mrs. Manningham hears footsteps coming from the locked, uninhabited top floor. She believes she may be going mad, and that is certainly what Mr. Manningham believes. But when Inspector Rough arrives one evening to visit Mrs. Manningham while she is alone, questions arise and secrets are revealed. Suddenly, insanity is no longer the biggest threat she faces.

On the Farce Day of Christmas

Directed by Rose Leininger.  On the Farce Day of Christmas written by Ken Levine is presented with special arrangement by Theatrical Rights Worldwide.

To Keep her religious mother from knowing she’s divorced, Wendy pays her ex to pose as her husband and go home for the holidays.  Havoc ensues, old tensions rise, and everyone has a secret!

 

Intimate Apparel

Directed by Andrea Belser. Intimate Apparel written by Lynn Nottage is presented with special arrangement by Concord Theatricals on behalf of Dramatists Play Service.

In 1905 New York City, Esther, an African-American seamstress, is in great demand for the intimate apparel she creates for clients who range from wealthy white patrons to prostitutes.  Though leading a life that provides joy to so many, she remains lonely, longing for a husband and a future.  Through a mutual acquaintance, she begins a correspondence with a Caribbean man named George, and soon he persuades her that they should marry, sight unseen.  However, Esther’s heart is drawn to the Hasidic shopkeeper from whom she buys cloth, and his heart to hers.  When George arrives in the city, Esther is hit with the reality of the situation and she is forced to face a future that she is truly unprepared for.  Told with grace and delicacy by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Lynn Nottage, Intimate Apparel presents the troubles of the heart in all their glory.

Prelude to a Kiss

Directed by Pierre Brault. Prelude to a Kiss written by Craig Lucas is presented with special arrangement by Concord Theatricals on behalf of Dramatists Play Service.

At Peter and Rita’s wedding, a mysterious old man insists on kissing the bride.  While honeymooning, Peter gradually realizes that the woman by his side is not his wife.  The wedding kiss caused Rita’s soul and the old man’s to change places.  Peter must track down the old man and free his young love’s spirit trapped in an aging and diseased body before it’s too late.

 

Glimpses of the Moon

Directed by Colin Anderson with musical direction by John D. Roberts.  Glimpses of the Moon book and lyrics by Tajlei Levis, music by John Mercurio is presented with special arrangement by Concord Theatricals.

With plenty of friends but little money, Susy Branch and her friend Nick Lansing devise a clever scheme to live beyond their means.  They’ll marry and live off the wedding gifts, while they help on another secure more suitable millionaire spouses.  The plan works perfectly — until they fall in love.
